European Wild Cabbage, also known as 'Chou Fourrager Prover' in France. Its a leafy large green related to 'Sprigiello Leaf Broccoli', 'Black Tuscan Kale' and other leafy greens of the Brassica group. Only slightly bitter raw, they can be cooked in one or more changes of water to remove what bitterness it has. However, mild in comparison to many greens as the mustard oils are low. We find that the slight bitterness actually enhances the flavor, and this is one of our favorite cooked leaves. The plant can usually be harvested all year round, though there will be little to pick in very cold winters. Huge production that is over 2 feet high and wide in all directions. Produces a large quantity of leaves very quickly. Very hard to find this European treat in the U.S.. 1000 seeds (40 days) *Note* Superb green in place of mustard greens or turnip tops. Also highly prized in Europe for livestock food and dried and mixed for an organic vegetable chicken feed with other vegetables.
